I love teaching. I find teaching to be a deeply nourishing extension of my artistic practice.

I have taught theater making to a range of ages - from toddlers to graduate students - but I have been particularly rewarded by my work with college students. My own education was a combination of academia and conservatory training. I received a B.A. in Dramatic Literature and Criticism from Smith College, and an M.F.A.in Acting from NYU’s Graduate Acting program. These two experiences have great resonance in my work as a teacher now: I practice a rigorous approach to play analysis to awaken the questions which foster spontaneous life. But I’m equally interested in helping students grow a rich imagination, in fostering a spirit of play, in modeling ways to be a generous and conscientious company member, and in encouraging my students to act courageously on their individual instincts.

I have taught Acting, Directing, and Text Analysis, at Smith College, Bard College, Ramapo College of New Jersey, NYU, and Bucks County Community College. And I was very fortunate to spend 7 years on the Theatre faculty at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus, where I also served as the interim Head of the Directing program.
